SE Sport Appearance Package
The biggest upgrade that comes on the SE Sport Appearance package is the 19″ machine-face ebony painted aluminum wheels. While cosmetically they look nicer than the standard 17″ aluminum wheels, the 2″ larger wheel makes a huge difference in handling and ride comfort. This isn’t just a nice feature either, it adds real safety in bumpy, high-speed traffic around curvy Houston highways where the rubber really needs to stay on the road.

Gas
The base engine available on the Escape S, SE, and SEL, is a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s good for 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, and it’s rated to tow up to 2,000 lbs. The Escape Titanium provides the option of upgrading to a more powerful 2.0-liter turbo-four that makes 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque.
Replacing the current 6-speed transmission on all EcoBoost engines in the current Escape is a smooth, responsive new 8-speed automatic transmission.
Two Hybrid Options
The all-new 2020 Ford Escape will also be available as a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. The hybrid powertrain, which is standard on SE Sport and Titanium trims, starts with a 2.5-liter inline four and a CVT. With a 1.1 kilowatt-hour battery powering the electric motor, the hybrid Escape makes a system total of 198 hp. The PHEV version will be available on the SE, SEL, and Titanium trims. It uses the same 2.5-liter engine and CVT as the regular hybrid but adds a 14.4-kWh battery. The result is a bump to 209 hp and an all-electric range of about 30 miles.
All-new 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-cycle I-4 Hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains pair the gas engine with a new electronic continuously variable transmission (eVCT) and battery-driven electric motor (Hybrid standard on SE Sport and Titanium 400A, plug-in hybrid available on SE, SEL and Titanium).
