Ford BlueCruise 2023: Deep Dive with Ryan Fehl

Join Ryan Fehl as he breaks down the revolutionary Ford BlueCruise – a game changer in hands-free highway driving!  BlueCruise is Ford’s innovative hands-free driving system that offers a relaxing experience on designated highways. Let’s dive into its mechanics, safety features, and capabilities!

Ford BlueCruise is a hands-free highway driving feature that is available on select Ford vehicles. It uses a driver-facing camera and steering torque sensor to monitor the driver, who should remain engaged in driving at all times.

Ford BlueCruise works on certain on prequalified sections of divided highways called Hands-Free Blue Zones. These Blue Zones make up over 130,000 miles of North American roads. When BlueCruise is activated, the vehicle will automatically accelerate, brake, and steer within its lane. The driver can take their hands off the wheel and feet off the pedals, while keeping their eyes on the road.

Ford BlueCruise is a great way to reduce driver fatigue on long highway trips. However, it is important to remember that the system is not a substitute for safe driving. Drivers should always be aware of their surroundings and be prepared to take control of the vehicle at any time.

If the driver shows signs of being distracted, the system will provide “Watch the Road” warnings. If the driver does not respond, the system will apply the brakes to slow the vehicle down.

Benefits of Ford BlueCruise:

  • Reduces driver fatigue on long highway trips
  • Allows drivers to focus on the road ahead
  • Provides a more relaxing driving experience
  • Can help improve fuel economy

Limitations of Ford BlueCruise:

  • Only works on certain limited-access highways
  • Requires the driver to remain engaged in driving
  • Can be deactivated if the driver shows signs of being distracted
